Need a good reason to come to the Outer Banks this summer? How about because we have some of the cleanest beaches on the coast?

Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks got four stars in an annual report on water quality released today by the Natural Resources Defense Council.

The organization’s19th annual report on beach water quality gives information on water monitoring, pollution and other issues for more than 6,000 beaches across the country, according to a news release.

The travel section of The New York Times recently listed the Outer Banks as one of the top surfing destinations in the country. Of course, we in the Currituck area have known that for a while.
