New skateparks coming to the Outer Banks

For Ronnie O’Neal, 14, and his 11-year-old brother Dylan, construction of two new skateparks in Currituck County can’t begin soon enough.

Both are title-holding skateboarders with dreams of becoming professional skaters. They were among 20 local residents who recently attended the final skatepark forum at Powells Point Senior Center in Jarvisburg, to discuss two park designs planned for Lower Currituck and Knotts Island. (read more)

Currituck wins NCC title

Currituck’s near-flawless routine secured the Northeastern Coastal Conference cheerleading championship on Saturday.

“We had some ups and downs,” Currituck coach Debbie Barnhill said. “But they worked very hard and it showed by winning this. They are proud to be Currituck Knights.”
